Clinic services
Your inner ear helps keep you steady, so an ear problem can leave you dizzy or off balance. These clinics list balance disorders among their services.
About this service
Deep inside each ear, the vestibular system senses how your head moves and tells your brain which way is up. When something disturbs it, you can feel dizzy, unsteady or as if the room is spinning (vertigo).
Common inner ear causes include benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), where short spins are set off by moving your head, and labyrinthitis or vestibular neuritis, which often follow a cold or flu. A build-up of ear wax can add to the feeling too, though it's rarely the whole story. Our guide to ear wax and dizziness explains the link.
The clinics below list balance disorders among their services. What they offer ranges from an ear examination and hearing test to specialist balance assessments, so check the clinic's page or ask before you book. A GP can also refer you to an NHS balance or ENT clinic.
