About us

About Ear Wax Removal UK

We're a UK-wide directory of independent ear wax removal clinics, set up by audiologists who do this work themselves. Find a clinic near you, see what it offers, then contact or book with the clinic directly.

What we do

One place to find ear wax removal near you

Many GP surgeries no longer remove ear wax, so most people now turn to a pharmacy, a hearing centre or a private clinic. We bring those clinics together, so you can see what's near you without ringing round.

For patients

If your ears are blocked

  • Search by town, city or postcode, or browse clinics by town.
  • Open a clinic's page to see where it is, when it's open, the treatments it offers and how to get in touch.
  • Send a booking request or a message from the page, or phone the clinic. It goes straight to the clinic, which confirms your appointment.
  • Read our ear care guides first if you'd like to understand your symptoms and options.

For clinics

If you run an ear wax removal clinic

  • A page for each of your locations, with a map, your opening hours and the services you offer.
  • Booking requests and messages from patients, sent straight to you.
  • A place on the town pages and in search results for the areas you cover.

How it works

From a blocked ear to a booked appointment

There's no account to create. Prices, appointment times and aftercare are set by each clinic, and you deal with the clinic from the moment you get in touch.

  1. Search your area

Type a town, city or postcode. You'll see the clinics near you on a list and a map.

  2. Compare clinic pages

Each page shows the clinic's address, opening hours, the treatments it offers and how to contact it.

  3. Contact or book directly

Send a booking request or call. Your request goes to the clinic, not to us, and the clinic gets back to you to confirm.

Our approach to information

How we write about ear health

Ear wax is a small problem that attracts a lot of bad advice, from ear candles to cotton buds. Our guides stick to what the NHS and NICE say, in plain English, and show you where each piece of advice comes from.

Based on NHS and NICE guidance

Our advice follows NHS guidance and the NICE guideline on hearing loss in adults (NG98), which covers ear wax removal. When a guide mentions research, it names the study.

Sources you can read yourself

Each guide ends with a list of the sources it draws on, linked so you can read them in full.

Dated and kept up to date

Every guide shows when it was last updated. We revise guides when the guidance behind them changes.

Plain English

We explain what happens, how long it takes and what to do next. The glossary covers the words you might hear in clinic.

Who we are

Set up by audiologists

We are fully qualified, HCPC-registered audiologists who specialise in microsuction ear wax removal.

We built this website as a meeting point. People with blocked or painful ears needed an easy way to find a professional nearby, and audiologists and ear wax removal practitioners needed a way to reach them. Some clinics in the network also offer hearing tests, hearing aids and hearing protection.

The same idea is behind our sister site in the United States, earwaxremoval.us.

Where our role stops

What we are not

A directory can do a lot to help you find the right clinic. It's worth being clear about the things it can't do.

Not the NHS

We're an independent website, not part of the NHS. To find out what your local NHS service offers, ask your GP practice or read our guide to ear wax removal on the NHS.

Not personal medical advice

Our guides are general information. They can't tell you what is happening in your ears. A pharmacist, GP or clinician who has looked in them can.

Not the clinic you book with

Every clinic is independent and sets its own prices, appointment times and policies. Your appointment, treatment and any follow-up are between you and the clinic.

Not an emergency service

For sudden hearing loss, severe ear pain, or bleeding or discharge from the ear, contact NHS 111 or your GP. In an emergency, call 999.

Get in touch

Talk to us, or to a clinic

The quickest way to reach a clinic is through its own page. For anything about this website, we're happy to hear from you.
