About the clinic
Cheshire Ear cares specialises in Ear Wax Removal using microsuction. The procedure is performed by a fully qualified HCPC registered Hearing Aid Audiologist with many years of experience.
We offer home visit appointments, so you can have the procedure completed in the comfort of your own home.
We only offer microsuction which is one of the safest and most comfortable methods of removing wax that is built up in the ear
When we arrive on the appointment we will take a medical history, so we can get a full history about your ears. We will then look inside your ears and check the health of your ears and then if it is safe to proceed once we have taken your medical history and checked the health of your ears, we will then remove the wax from your ears.
Excessive ear wax affects 1 in 15 in the UK and can now and then be mistaken for a loss of hearing.
The excessive production of ear wax is a naturally occurring phenomenon to guard your ears from infection, instrusion and dirt.
Ear wax is there for a reason. It keeps the skin of the ear canal healthy and normally works its own way out. Trouble starts when it builds up and blocks the canal: your hearing goes muffled, the ear feels full, and some people get itching, earache, ringing or dizziness.
Softening drops are the usual first step. The NHS suggests 2 to 3 drops of medical-grade olive or almond oil, 3 to 4 times a day for 3 to 5 days, unless you might have a hole in your eardrum. If the ear is still blocked after that, book in for removal with a clinic in Northwich.
Try not to dig the wax out with cotton buds or fingers. They tend to push it deeper and can scratch the canal, which makes it harder to remove. Our guide to the signs of ear wax build-up explains what to look out for.
